| I got tired of not being able to find the tablets,
so when we finally found it, I scanned it and got the sizing for the lines
then I made a background tile for it. Download the tile
and save to your images for repeated use. I found that the schools
in our town use a different line height for the 1st grade students, so
I had to make a tile for that one also
for the older grandie which you can download and save also.
Here's what you do for the printable paper for the children.
Step 1
Open a new image 8 inches wide, 10.5 inches high and 300dpi resolution.
Set your ruler to inches in 'preferences' and turn it on under the view
menu.
Step 2
Open the tile you want to use and set it as the flood fill pattern
in PSP, then minimize the tile and flood the pattern into the new image.
This is a VERY large file so it may be slow. This makes the plain
paper for school work.
Step 3
Open your browser and find a graphic you want to use (graphic should
be at least 600 pixels tall). Rotate it left 90 degrees and copy.
Close image and move the paper image to the bottom left corner to paste
your copied image.
Step 4
Using the 'Selection' menu, 'Promote to Layer'; by doing this you can
easily change the image and use it again. Name the layer 'picture'
in the Layers palette.
Step 5
Move the image back to the top to add your child's name. Add
a new layer for the name if you might want to change it now and then and
name it 'Name'. Select the 'Draw' tool (pencil) and in the 'Options'
palette, set to 'Single Line', width=1, check anti alias and Create
as Vector, uncheck close path.
Step 6
Make sure there is a background color selected and the foreground color
is set to 'null'. Start past the 2 inch on the vertical ruler marking
and just to the left of the first line and draw a line straight up, almost
to the end. Now click on the 'L' shaped line connecting the background
and foreground colors to switch them and set you color to a medium grey.
Step 7
Select you text tool and move it over the line slowly until you see
a capital A over a curve and then click it at that point. Your text
editor will open; Set to 'Arial' font and set size to 84 by tying
the number in. Then click ok.
Step 8
I didn't switch the background/forground color so I ended up with an
outline of the name instead. Using medium to light grey for the font
allows the child to be able to trace over it for practice.
Step 9
Deselect the name by using the Select None from the selections menu
or by keystroke.
Step 10
You will need to click on the 'Yes' to drop the name to the lower layer.
Step 11
Next Delete the vector layer that the line is on, save and print.
This is rotated so you can see what it looked like after printing.
It is of course much smaller than the full sheet that was printed.

Close Window when Finished.
