Folding Dressing/Room Divider Screen

Supplies:
PSP - any version
Vizros plugin filter
older FREE version: download here

1.  I started with a 600W by 450H image and promoted it to layer;
2.  I opened the Vizros 'Fold' filter
3.  I dropped down to the 'Unselected' & 'Ground' pages and slid the Opaque slider all the way to the left on both of them;
5.  I left the rest of the settings to default
and clicked OK.
6.  On the rendered image, I got the rectangle selection tool with anti-alias checked and cut off the partial fold to the right, then deleted, then deselected.

7.  Here' where the fun starts . . . I duplicated the layer, selected all and then clicked in it to set the selection.
8.  If you don't have your rulers turned on, under the 'View' menu, click on 'Ruler'.  You will use the ruler to keep your dragging straight . . . now, paying close attention to the ruler, lined the cursor up with a ruler mark high into one of the points and drag the selection straight down until until the lower points of the zig-zag fold line touch the bottom of the image area and before you let up on the mouse button, make sure you are on the same ruler marking as you started - then let go.  I tried to mark the high starting point I used in theis image.

9.  Make sure your 'selection is 'defloated', activate the lower layer and hit the 'delete' key, then click back on the copy layer, deselect, then hit the delete key again, so there is noting in the copy layer.  Your main layer shoule now have the accordian looking zig-zag matched perfectly.  Image:  notice the zig-zag is touching the bottom of the image befor I release the mouse button.

10.  Choose a flood fill patter of wood and set the angle at either 0 or 90 so that the grain  of the wood will be vertical, still using the rectangle selection tool, click on the Raster 1 layer (the other in the copy and the copy is above the 'Raster 1').
11.  You will repeat these steps until all panels are framed . . . .
A.  starting at the right side of the first panel, drag a selection straight down the fold and back to the right side making sure the entire panel is in the selection and none of the next panel, clcik in the selection to set it - the first fold should be selected as in the image below

B.  defloat the selection
C.  Activate the copy (top) layer
D.  Flood fill with the woodgrain pattern

E.  Contract the selection by 3, hit the delete key.

F.  invert the selection
G.  add a small drop shadow - I used, V&H = 1, opacity = 57 and blur = 1.45, color = black ( you just use whatever you prefer but keep it the same for each repeat.

H.  Activate the Raster 1 layer and follow these steps for each panel until they are all framed.

**the images I used are so old that I don't remember where they came from, so I wouldn't dare offer them for download, but there are tons of background images to be found.

12.  When all panels are framed, frame will be on the copy layer and the folded pattern will be on the raster 1layer - I decreased the layer opacity on the folded image to about 82

then I added a third layer, dragged it to the bottom,

next I grabbed atube with a recognizable shape, copy/pasted it onto the bottom layer

and while it was still selected, I flood filled it with a medium grey to create the silohette behind the screen . .

save the image as a layered image, then merge visible  resize as you wish and save as psp file.
This should work with about any size of a beginning image.

Finished.
