How to Make a Soft Tube




You can find metallic tube instructions in 'the Pad' tutorial and this is the tutorial on the 'soft tube'.

Step 1
Start with a new image 800Wx100H.
*Note:  you can use 100Wx800H for a vertical tube.

Step 2
Set your flood fill to 'gradient', in PSP7 it would be the 2nd from the left.

Step 3
Select the Metallic preset for gradients.

Step 4
Match the setting below.
*Note:  if you chose to use a vertical tube in Step 1, set the angle to 90.

Step 5
Flood fill the iamge with the gradient.

Step 6
Select a middle area about 13

Step 7
Flood fill with solid white.

Step 8
Click on the deformation tool - looks like a 9-dot square.

Step 9
Notice the 8 nodes as marked

Step 10
Click on the bottom center node and push it up to the quarter inch mark.

Step 10
Click back on the rectangle selection tool and from the 'Selection' menu, click on 'Select none'.

You can save the uncolored tube at this point to colorize and use again later.

Step 11
From the 'Color' menu, select 'Colorize';  slide the 'hue' and 'saturation' gliders, type in new numbers or use the up/down arrows to pick your color, then click OK.

Now your tube is ready to copy/paste to another image.
