This tutorial was written using Paint Shop Pro 8

We will be making the two angels without the animation

You will need to download the selections and save them in a folder of your choice, these selections will work fine for versions 7 & 8


Open a new image width = 250 height = 125

Load the 01 selection and fill with a color of your choice for her dress outline, I used #D25252 and then deselect.

You might need to zoom the canvas way up to see these selections :o)

Load the 02 selection and fill with your choice, I used #F0BABA, deselect.

Load the 03 selection and fill with your choice, I used #CBB9A7, deselect.

Load the 04 selection and fill with a skin color, I used #EDBB8F, deselect.

Load the 05 selection and fill with the same skin color and deselect.

Load the 06 selection and fill with the hair color, I used #8A5326, deselect.

Load the 07 selection and fill with black for the little eyes and deselect.

Here's what you should have.

Ok using the magic wand, select inside the lower part of her dress and fill with a lighter color, I used #EAA6A6, do not deselect.

Use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 8
Shadow Color = same as outline color #D25252
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #EAA6A6

deselect and select the sleeve with the magic wand, fill with the same color and use the same cutout, changing the blur to 7 and deselect

select the top of the dress and fill with a light color, I used #F5D5D5, use a cutout with these settings and then deselect

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 5
Shadow Color = same as outline color #D25252
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F5D5D5

select the bottom of the dress and the sleeve like you see in the screenshot below... using the magic wand and holding down your shift key to select every other square, and fill with a lighter color, I used #F9E1E1, do not deselect

Use a cutout with these settings...

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 3
Shadow Color = same as outline color #F0BABA
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F9E1E1

Now deselect and use the magic wand to select all the other empty squares and fill with white, use the same exact cutout changing the Fill interior with color to white.

Use the magic wand to select inside the front pant leg, fill with a lighter color, I used #EFE8E1, do not deselect, use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 6
Shadow Color = same as outline color #CBB9A7
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #EFE8E1

Select inside the other pants leg and fill with the same color, use the same cutout, changing the blur to 5 and deselect.

Select inside the front wing and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 7 and deselect.

select inside the back wing and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 5 and deselect

select inside the front foot and fill with a lighter color, I used #F7DEC9, use this cutout

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 6
Shadow Color = same as outline color #EDBB8F
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F7DEC9

Select inside the back foot and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 5 and deselect.

Select inside her hand and fill with the same color, use the same cutout and deselect.

Select inside the head and fill with the same cutout changing the blur to 6, do not deselect, add a new raster layer and use the paintbrush with these settings

Shape = Round
Size = 6
Hardness = 100
Step = 1
Density = 100
Opacity = 100

Change your color to #E46150 and paint two cheeks on the new layer

Go to "Adjust" "Blur" "Gaussian Blur" = 2 and deselect

Turn the opacity of this layer down to about 75

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible

Select inside one piece of her hair and fill with a lighter color, I used #DAA278

Do not deselect and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 4
Shadow Color = same as outline color #8A5326
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #DAA278

Select inside each part of her hair, one at a time, fill with the same color and use the same cutout.

Select inside one side of the bow and fill with a lighter color, I used #F9E1E1, use a cutout...

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 4
Shadow Color = same as outline color #F0BABA
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F9E1E1

Select inside the other side of the bow and fill with the same color, use the same cutout and deselect.

Select inside the center of the bow and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 2 and deselect.

Pick a little darker color for the bow, I used #EAA2A2, and change your paintbrush size to 1 and paint like you see below.

and then you can add anything else you might want, I added some stitches on her dress...

and some little dots on her dress

Shut this layer off for now and add a new raster layer

Load the 08 selection and fill with your choice, I used #8C8DB2 and deselect

Load the 09 selection and fill with #EDBB8F and deselect.

Load the 10 selection and fill with the same color and deselect.

Load the 11 selection and fill with your choice for her hair, I used #E2B046 and deselect.

Load the 12 selection and fill with your choice for her wings, I used #CBB9A7, same as the other and deselect.

Load the 13 selection and fill with black and deselect.

Here's what you should have.

Select inside the front of her pants with the magic wand and fill with a lighter color, I used #BFC0D7, do not deselect and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 8
Shadow Color = same as outline color #8C8DB2
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #BFC0D7

Select the back pant leg and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 4 and deselect

Select inside the sleeve and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 6 and deselect.

Select inside the top part of her clothes and fill with a lighter color, I used #E2E3EE, use the same cutout changing the blur to 5 and the fill interior with color to the same as your fill #E2E3EE

Select inside the front wing and fill with a lighter color, I used #EFE8E1, use this cutout and then deselect.

Opacity = 100
Blur = 7
Shadow Color = same as outline color #CBB9A7
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #EFE8E1

Select inside the back wing and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 5 and deselect.

select inside the front foot and fill with a lighter color, I used #F7DEC9, use this cutout

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 6
Shadow Color = same as outline color #EDBB8F
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F7DEC9

Select inside the back foot and fill with the same color, use the same cutout changing the blur to 5 and deselect.

Select inside her hand and fill with the same color, use the same cutout and deselect.

Select inside the head and fill with the same cutout changing the blur to 6, do not deselect, add a new raster layer and use the paintbrush with these settings

Shape = Round
Size = 6
Hardness = 100
Step = 1
Density = 100
Opacity = 100

Change your color to #E46150 and paint two cheeks on the new layer

Go to "Adjust" "Blur" "Gaussian Blur" = 2 and deselect

Turn the opacity of this layer down to about 75

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible

Select inside one section of her hair and fill with a lighter color, I used #F1D7A5, do not deselect

Use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 3
Shadow Color = same as outline color #E2B046
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F1D7A5

repeat this for the other 5 sections of her hair, select a section, fill with the same color, use the same cutout...

Now you can add anything else you might want, I added some little stitches and hearts

Turn the other angel layer back on

add a new raster layer and drag it to the bottom

Load the 14 selection and fill with your choice, I used #E7453D and deselect

Select inside the heart with the magic wand and fill with a lighter color, I used #F8BAB8, do not deselect and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 12
Shadow Color = same as outline color #E7453D
Fill interior with color (checked) = same as fill color #F8BAB8

Load the 15 selection and fill with white, thats it!
