Christina's Tubes and Tutorials

(My own creation)

This tutorial was written using Paint Shop Pro 8

You will need to download the selections and save them in a folder of your choice, these selections will work fine for versions 7 & 8

The baby bottle was made by a tutorial from MidnightPSP

Pixel Baby Bottle Tutorial

You can either go there and make your own bottle first, or you are welcome to use mine. OR you can put anything you want in thier hands, or nothing at all.... It's your choice :o)

This was actually a tube I made a long time ago, I wrote a selection tutorial when I first made it but I lost that...

Open a new image width = 205 height = 140

Name your first layer Blanket

Load the 01 selection and fill with your choice for the blanket, I used #8788B1

Load the 02 selection and fill with a lighter color, I used #BEBFD8, do not deselect and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 8
Shadow Color = same as outline color
Fill Interior With Color (checked) = same as fill color

selections, modify, contract = 4

Use the same cutout changing the blur to 4 and deselect

and that's my poor attempt at a blanket :o)

Turn off the blanket layer....Add a new raster layer and name it Baby

Load the 03 selection and fill with your skin outline color, I used #F2B88E and deselect

Load the 04 selection and fill with a lighter color #F8D9C2 and deselect

Load the 05 selection and fill with a lighter color #FBE7DD (little highlights on the fingers and toes) deselect

Load the 06 selection and fill with a darker #F3BE97 and deselect (inside ear, under mouth, nose and eyes)

Load the 07 selection and fill with a darker color #DC884A (face) deselect

Load the 08 selection and fill with white, deselect (eyes and diaper)

Load the 09 selection and fill with your choice for the eye color, I used #5365A7 deselect

Load the 10 selection and fill with #C0C0C0 and deselect (eyes and diaper)

Load the 11 selection and fill with black (eyes) and deselect

Load the 12 selection and fill with your choice, I used #8A5326 and deselect

Load the 13 selection and fill with a lighter color, I used #DCA780 and deselect.

Here's what you should have?

Use the magic wand to select inside the diaper and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 6
Shadow Color = same as outline color
Fill Interior With Color (checked) = same as fill color

Select inside the front leg and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 5
Shadow Color = same as outline color
Fill Interior With Color (checked) = same as fill color

select inside the back leg and use the same cutout, changing the blur to 4

Select the body and use the same cutout changing the blur to 5

Select the back arm and use the same cutout changing the blur to 4

select the ear and use the same cutout changing the blur to 3

Select the head and use the same cutout changing the blur to 5, Do not deselect...

While still selected add a new raster layer and use the paintbrush with these settings

shape = round
size = 8
hardness = 100
density = 100
opacity = 100

and I used #E8755A to paint two cheeks

Use a gaussian blur of 4 and deselect

now you can merge these two layers and rename it baby

I used the paintbrush changing the size to 1 and added two little white dots on his cheeks

Select one section of his hair, use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 5
Shadow Color = same as outline color
Fill Interior With Color (checked) = same as fill color

Repeat this for each section of hair, selecting one at a time and using the same cutout.

Ok I decided that the outline for his hair was too dark so I loaded the 12 selection again and filled with a lighter color #95613B

and thats it for the first baby

duplicate the baby layer and shut the original layer off.

do not move the baby on the duplicate layer

With the copy of baby layer active load the 12 selection and fill with a different hair color, I used #E2B046

Deselect and load the 13 selection and fill with a lighter color, I used #F0D5A0

Deselect and go to "Image" "Mirror" and turn the other layers back on

Grab the mover tool and scoot the copied baby over just a bit

Select each section of this babies hair and use a cutout just like the other baby, changing the shadow and fill interior colors to match.

Now if you are using the teddy bear, add a new layer and name it bear

Load the 14 selection and fill with #945022 deselect

Load the 15 selection and fill with a lighter #DB9363 and deselect

Load the 16 selection and fill with a lighter color #EABFA2 and deselect

Load the 17 selection and fill with black and deselect.

Now you want to use the eraser tool, size of 1, opacity, density, and hardness of 100 and carefully erase part of the bear so you can see the babies hand... It might be easier to turn the opacity of the bear layer down a little so you can see the hand underneath...

Select each part of the bear with the magic wand and use a cutout with a blur of 5, one section at a time, remember to change the colors for the cutout too

If you are using the bottle you can add a new layer and copy - paste the bottle in the other baby's hand... Then use the eraser tool again so you can see his hand...

and there's your babies :o)
