This tutorial was written using Paint Shop Pro 7.

You will need to download these Selections and save them in a folder of your choice

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and the tools needed.

Remember to save your image often.


Start by opening a new image 250 x 400 on a transparent background.

Go to SELECTIONS - LOAD FROM DISK and browse to the folder you saved the selections into. Open the 1-ears.sel and fill with #EFEAE6 and deselect.

Go to EFFECTS - 3D EFFECTS - CUTOUT using the settings below.

Vertical=0 Horizontal=0 Opacity=100 Blur=19 Shadow Color=#AC967E Fill Color=#EFEAE6

Go to EFFECTS - NOISE and add 6% uniform noise.

Add a new raster layer by going to LAYERS - NEW RASTER LAYER and open the 2-innerears.sel and fill with #E48AB0, deselect. Then go to EFFECTS - BLUR - GAUSSIAN BLUR and apply a blur of 6. Open the 1-ears.sel again and go SELECTIONS - INVERT and then EDIT - CLEAR. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 3-head.sel and fill with the same #EFEAE6 and deselect. Apply a cutout, changing the blur to 25 and leaving the rest the same. Apply 6% uniform noise.

Add a new raster layer and open the 4-cheeks.sel, fill with #E48AB0 and deselect. Apply a Gaussian Blur of 6 to this. To clean up anything going outside the head, open the 3-head.sel again and go to SELECTIONS - INVERT and then EDIT - CLEAR. Deselect

Add a new raster layer and open the 5-nose.sel and fill with #E48AB0 and deselect. Go to EFFECTS - 3D EFFECTS - INNER BEVEL using the settings below.

Width=1 Smoothness=50 Depth=3 Ambience=0 Shininess=0 Color=White Angle=335 Intensity=50 Elevation=30

Add a new raster layer and open the 6-highlights.sel and fill with white. Deselect and apply a Gaussian Blur of 2 to this.

Add a new raster layer and open the 7-eyes.sel and fill with black. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 8-heart.sel and fill with #E3A15B. Deselect. Apply an Inner Bevel, changing the width to 20 and leaving the other settings the same. Then go to EFFECTS - TEXTURE EFFECTS - TEXTURE with the settings below.

Preset=Wood Grain Size=100 Smoothness=0 Depth=1 Ambience=0 Shininess=0 Color=White Angle=243 Intensity=50 Elevation=31

On the same layer, open the 9-stitches.sel and fill with #5D3B2F and deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 10-hands.sel and fill with #EFEAE6 and deselect. Apply another cutout, changing the blur back to 19 and leaving the rest the same. Add 6% uniform noise.

Add a new raster layer and open the 11-stitches.sel and fill with #483C30 and deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 12-bow.sel and fill with #809E5C and deselect. Go to EFFECTS - TEXTURE EFFECTS - WEAVE with the settings below.

Gap Size=1 Width=1 Opacity=40 Weave Color=White Fill Gaps=Unchecked

And then EFFECTS - 3D EFFECTS - DROP SHADOW with these settings.

Vertical = 1
Horizontal = 1
Opacity = 65
Blur = 8
Color = Black

Add a new raster layer and open the 13-bow.sel, fill with the same color, apply a weave with the same settings and apply the same drop shadow. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 14-bow.sel, fill with the same color, apply a weave with the same settings and apply the same drop shadow. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 15-bow.sel, fill with the same color, apply a weave with the same settings and apply the same drop shadow. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 16-bow.sel, fill with the same color, apply a weave with the same settings and apply the same drop shadow. Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and open the 17-hanger.sel, fill with black and apply an inner bevel using the default Metallic preset. Deselect.

And you are finished!
