This tutorial was written using Paint Shop Pro 7

Open a new image 200 x 150 on a transparent background

grab your paintbrush with these settings

using black and #C0C0C0 make the outline for the head.

and black to make the front legs

Black and #C0C0C0 for the body and tail

and black for the back leg

and finally he needs some eyes, nose and a mouth :o)

Use the magic wand to select inside the head, the muzzle, and the body and flood fill with white... deselect and select the other body parts and flood fill with #202020 and here's what you should have.

Use the magic wand to select inside the head and use this cutout

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 6
Shadow Color = #C0C0C0
Fill interior with color (checked) = white

Deselect and select inside the muzzle and use the same cutout

Select inside the white body and use the same cutout changing the blur to 7, deselect

Select inside the back leg and use a cutout with these settings

Vertical = 0
Horizontal = 0
Opacity = 100
Blur = 20
Shadow Color = Black
Fill interior with color (checked) = #202020

Do not deselect, grab the retouch tool with these settings

And add some highlights to his leg like you see below.

Deselect and select the front leg and use the same cutout, while still selected use the retouch tool to add highlight here too.

Select the other front leg and use the same cutout and the same highlight

select the tail and use the same cutout changing the blur to 15

apply the same highlight with the retouch tool but change the brush size to 15

select one ear and use the same cutout, apply the same highlight changing the brush size to about 8

Repeat that for the other ear

and the exact same steps for under the eyes

and here's our panda so far...

If you want the furry look, all you do is add some little pixels all around the outside of the body like this....But that is up to you :o)
