This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP and the tools needed

This was made using Paint Shop Pro 7

I find it much easier to use the draw tool at point to point line with vectors checked instead of using the preset shapes tool, of course this is up to you, this tutorial was written using the draw tool.

I used a canvas size of 450 x 350 on a transparent background

I started by changing my background color to white and made the wing., then when you have the shape you want convert this layer to a raster layer and rename it wing.

Then using a skin color, I made the feet, converted to a raster layer and renamed it feet.

Using the same skin color I made the head, converted to a raster layer and renamed it head.

Changing the color for her dress, I made the dress, converted to a raster layer and renamed it dress.

Then using a different color for the hair, I made the hair, converted to a raster layer, and renamed it hair.

I made the hair layer active and used Eyecandy 3 Fur on the hair to give it some texture

Then used the retouch tool with the settings below

Using a brush size of 12, opacity of 100 and Step of 5, I pulled the hair out to make strands

Then changed the retouch tool to Lighten RGB using the same settings as push, and added some highlights to the hair using the same method.

Then changing the retouch tool to Darken RGB with the same settings used on the other two, I added some shading to the hair too.

And then still on the hair layer, I applied this Eyecandy 3 Jiggle

Then made the wing layer active and used the retouch tool with Darken RGB and these settings

And added some shading in the middle of the wing

Then using the retouch tool on smudge with these settings

I smudged the wings, stroking upward, for a feathery look

Making the dress layer active, I used the retouch tool with Darken RGB and these settings

And added some details to the dress

I changed the brush size in the tool options pallet

And added more shading on her dress

Then switched the retouch tool to Lighten RGB with these settings

And added some highlights on her dress too

Then still on the dress layer I went to "Layers" "Duplicate" "Selections" "Select All" "Selections" "Float" and then "Effects" "Blur" "Gaussian Blur" changing the blur settings to 3, deselected and "Effects" "Noise" I added 6% Uniform Noise on the dress.

Then I used Darken RGB again, changing the brush size to 3 and leaving the rest the same, I added a little more shading on the dress to darken the lines better.

Then I made the head layer active, added a new raster layer, naming it face, and using the paintbrush with these settings and a foreground color of #DB997F

I painted some details for her face

Then used the retouch tool again on Darken RGB with the same settings as before and a brush size of 2 I darkened between her lips and a little above the eyes.

Then applied a Gaussian Blur of .65 to this layer

I added a new raster layer above this naming it cheeks, I changed my foreground color to #ECABAA and used the paintbrush at a size of 25 to make two cheeks.

I made the head layer active again and went to "Selections" "Select All" "Selections" "Float" "Selections" "Invert" "Selections" "Save to Alpha Channel" and gave it a name. Then with the area still selected, I made the cheeks layer active again and went to "Edit" "Clear" to remove anything going outside of the head.

Then added another raster layer under the cheeks, and used the paintbrush at a size of 1 and a foreground color of #E4A68F and painted some shading on her face.

I applied a Gaussian Blur of 2 to this layer

I added a new raster layer above this and using the paintbrush at a size of 2 and color of #E09A7E I painted more around the edge of the head.

I applied a Gaussian Blur of 3 to this and loaded the saved selection from the alpha channel and cleared anything going outside the head.

Then added a new raster layer and using the paintbrush at a size of 2 and for the color I used #F5DACF and painted some highlights above the eyes, on the tip of the nose, and a little on her chin.

I applied a Gaussian Blur of 2 to this

Here is my finished face.

Then I added layers above her feet and used the same method as the face to paint some shade and highlights to her feet.

I applied a Gaussian Blur of 2 on these layers and made the feet layer active again I went to "selections" "select all" "selections" "float" "selections" "invert" and cleared anything going outside the feet.

And thats basically it, you can add anything else you may want and when you are finished merge all your visible layers and save her as a picture tube.

She looks good on a frame....
