This was made using Paint Shop Pro 7.

We will make this boy from scratch using lots of vectors... Remember to save often.

I used a canvas size of about 400 x 600 for this one

First we will make all the vector shapes, then convert those to raster and do the rest.

Starting with the shirt, Change your background color to #9C875C and your foreground color on null. Go to Layers - New Vector Layer - and name it shirt. Using preset shapes , ellipse, vectors checked, make the shirt at about the center of the image using node edit .

Layers - New vector layer and name it collar, using the same preset shapes ellipse, change your background color to #E9C067 and make the collar by simply pulling the top node down.

Layers - New vector layer and name it pants. I used preset shapes ellipse again for this, adding nodes as needed, change your background color to #787C96 and make the pants.

Layers - New vector layer and name it left leg, change your background color to #E9C067 and use preset shapes ellipse again to make the leg. In your layers pallet, click on this layer and drag it to the very bottom.

Layers - New vector layer and name it right leg. Make this leg the same way you did the other leg.

Make the left leg your active layer by clicking on that layer in your layers pallet, Add a new vector layer naming it left boot and change your background color to #96623A, use preset shapes ellipse to make his boot.

Make the right leg your active layer and add a new vector layer naming it right boot. Repeat the same steps to make this boot.

Make the very top layer active (pants) and add a new vector layer naming it left sleeve. Change your background color the same as you used for the shirt and using preset shapes ellipse again, make his sleeve.

Add a new vector layer above that naming it right sleeve, repeat the same steps to make the right sleeve.

Add a new vector layer naming it sleeve cuffs, change you background color to the same as you used for the collar and use preset shapes ellipse to make these the same way you did the collar. You can put both of these on the same layer. I turned the shirt layer off for this so I could see better.

Make the pants layer your active layer, add a new vector layer naming it left hand. Change your background color to #ECC3A4 for the hand. I did not use preset shapes for this, I used the draw tool set at point to point line, vectors checked and made the shape below...

Then click on the nodes circled below one at a time and push Ctrl + S on the keyboard to turn these nodes into symmetric nodes. Then pull out on the arrows a little to shape the hand.

Add a new vector layer naming it right hand and use the draw tool again to make this hand the same way.
