This tutorial was written as a request, it uses a lot of  shading
with the retouch tool and assumes you have a good working  knowledge
of PSP. I have tried to make it as easy as possible with lots  of screenshots
to show you how I shaded the areas.

You will need Paint Shop Pro I use version  7.

This Zip  File which includes all the selections and
the entire face,  incase you do not want to make it yourself.. I explain both  ways..

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at  tcgibbs@rockford.com

OK, start by opening a new image 350 x  525 on a transparent background

Name your first layer hat1, go to  "selections" "load from disk" and
open the hat1.sel, fill with a color  of your choice, I used #AA0C0C
and using your "retouch" tool  with these  two setting

use "Darken  RGB" to shade in the middle
use "Lighten RGB" to highlight the  edges

We will be using the retouch tool at different  sizes
to shade the entire image the same way...

deselect and add  a new layer, call it body,
"selections" "load from disk" and open the  body.sel
fill this with a skin color, I used #EECD9D,
if you are  going to use my face instead of making
your own, you need to use this  color too.
using the retouch tool with the same settings
choose  "Darken RGB" to add some shading...deselect

Add a new  layer and call it feet, "selections" "load from disk"
and open the  feet.sel, fill this selection with black and
go to "effects" "3d  effects" "inner bevel" using the
default round settings...  deselect...

Add a new layer and call it dress, load the  dress.sel
fill this with color of your choice, I used #AA0C0C
Again  using the same darken and lighten RGB with your
retouch tool add some  shading and highlights using
downward strokes with your mouse untill  you get
something like this.... deselect

Add a new  layer and call it dresstop, load the dresstop.sel,
fill with the same  color and apply the same shading above
with the retouch tool, same  settings, deselect

Add a new  layer and name it belt, open the belt.sel
fill with a color of your  choice, I used white,
and using Darken RGB, change the size to 15 in  the
tool options pallet and shade her belt a little...  deselect

Add a new layer and name it arm, load the  arm.sel
fill with your skin color, #EECD9D, and using the
retouch  tool, Darken RGB, size of 15, shade her arms
then change your size to 3  and shade the fingers,
you can see from my screenshot below I am really  bad
at shading hands, that is why I covered it up by
sticking a rose  tube there when I was all done :-)

deselect and  add a new layer named sleeve, load the sleeve.sel
fill with your dress  color, I used #AA0C0C, and using both the
Lighten and Darken RGB at  size 15 shade her sleeve in the same
way you did her dress...  deselect.
