& Flaming Pear's Ornament filter (it's free) This tutorial is for making the design used on the side border. 1. Open up a new image (I used 225x225) because that's what I use for my side borders but you can use any size you want. 2. Flood fill with blkack (shows the color brighter) 3. Add new raster layer 4. Set your foreground color to a linear gradient (any colors you like), angle = 312...repeats = 6 (play areound with the settings though as you can get some beautiful effects). 5. Set your background color to null; make sure your texture settings are on null too. ![]() 6. If you want to add a jewel in the middle, add a new raster layer now - otherwise continue to next step. 7. Click on you preshapes tool ![]() 8. Find the starburst preshape in the tools option box and set line width to 1 and line to the defailt one with anti-alias checked. ![]() 9. Starting at the upper left corner, drag selection to the lower right corner - you will see these setting in the status bar if you are accustomed to using that. ![]() 10. Your image should now resemble this one ![]() 11. If you have another layer, merge visible or flatten as you prefer. 12. Effects...use the Flaming Pear Ornament filter - now your image looks something like this 13. Rotate image left or right by 90 degrees ![]() 14. Apply the ornament filter again - sharpen or unsharpen as you prefer 15. Your image should now look something like this, but since mine were resized for the sake of the tutorial, yours will look better. ![]() You can now trim the image to your preferences. I applied as a side border but there are other uses. I hope you liked this tutorial Close Window when Finished. |
